Laura's story

Laura is thriving in a nursing role she loves, with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Hear her positive tips for finding the right role for you after a change in health, and why a diverse nursing workforce is so valuable. 

In her film, Laura describes how redeployment helped her find a new role when due to MS she could no longer undertake the duties of job. She reflects on how work has helped her manage her condition, and is good for her team and their patients.

Managers and HR team support are key to a good redeployment experience. 

Consider your transferable skills, experience and be open minded about alternative roles.

Disclosing a disability can give access to support and the Equality Act 2010 (or Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in Northern Ireland) can also offer you protection if you meet the legal definition of 'disabled'.

Be mindful of how your health condition may progress; the adjustments you need will change over time.
