Our strategy and how we represent members

Our strategy

  1. Raising awareness of the value of multidisciplinary perioperative practice across the four home nations.
  2. Providing a professional voice for forum members within other Royal Colleges and national/international perioperative care organisations.
  3. Influencing local and national perioperative policy and education by drawing upon our experience, links to other organisations and current best practice guidelines.
  4. Signposting to local and national perioperative care resources, including linking with Higher Education Institutions.
  5. Promoting nurse involvement in perioperative care research and future priority setting.
  6. Connecting forum members to encourage shared learning and future innovations in practice.

Forum priorities for 2024 ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥“ as identified by the forum committee and forum members:

  • workforce planning
  • roles for Nursing Associates in theatre and recovery environments
  • safe staffing levels
  • standardisation of competency frameworks for theatre nursing staff
  • position statement regarding surgical smoke
  • mental health and wellbeing of forum members
  • patient safety and human factors.
