Our strategy
- Raising awareness of the value of multidisciplinary perioperative practice across the four home nations.
- Providing a professional voice for forum members within other Royal Colleges and national/international perioperative care organisations.
- Influencing local and national perioperative policy and education by drawing upon our experience, links to other organisations and current best practice guidelines.
- Signposting to local and national perioperative care resources, including linking with Higher Education Institutions.
- Promoting nurse involvement in perioperative care research and future priority setting.
- Connecting forum members to encourage shared learning and future innovations in practice.
Forum priorities for 2024 ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥“ as identified by the forum committee and forum members:
- workforce planning
- roles for Nursing Associates in theatre and recovery environments
- safe staffing levels
- standardisation of competency frameworks for theatre nursing staff
- position statement regarding surgical smoke
- mental health and wellbeing of forum members
- patient safety and human factors.
