Nursing the orthopaedic patient

Peter S. Davis

Catherine Tranter, Paediatric rheumatology nurse specialist

Reason you chose this book

This became the building block for my skills in paediatric orthopaedics and rheumatology, although I often had to "translate" the content into something that was appropriate for paediatrics, I was empowered to do so by Mr Davis' tutoring and it challenged my perceptions on what a nurse could achieve.

Review

I found this edition straight forward to read, dipping into particular chapters as required and more importantly it was relevant to acute orthopaedic nursing, with an excellent evidence base. Written by practicing nurses rather than academics or medical staff gave the 1994 edition a quality and credibility, it remained a favourite reference point during my time in the paediatric orthopaedic field.
