Nurses: Power and politics

Trevor Clay

Patricia Bottrill FRCN

Reason you chose this book

I have a signed copy of this by Trevor Clay, who persuaded me to keep fighting for nursing at the time of Clinical Grading and the huge workload undertaken over months and years to resolve grading appeals

Review

For every £100 the Government spends from the public purse £3.00 goes on Nurses pay. So said Trevor Clay, in 1987, and it is still true, that Nurses need to know how to influence and fight for their patients and themselves. To ensure a well-qualified workforce, to use collective professional power , and instinct and recognise the role they play in Society. Nurses cannot remain ignorant of Policy and Politics, and the route lies through organising both as a profession and as a trade union and winning battles over resources, organisation and policy in the Public Arena of Healthcare.
