Reason you chose this book
This book has always been one I've recommended to our student members who are unsure about research, or struggling to know where to begin. It's aimed at those having to undertake an undergraduate dissertation or post graduate thesis.
Review
First published in the 80's, and now in its 6th edition it’s a clear and concise book for anyone doing a research project for the first time. It assumes no prior knowledge of research methodology or experience of carrying out research. It's a practical step-by-step guide from initial concept through to completion of a final written research project in any field such as social science, education and health. The 6th edition has a new chapter covering the benefits of using social media in research, including the use of blogs, sharing ideas on research community sites, crowdsourcing, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
