I joined the Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme in June 2024 as Head of Scheme.

I am thrilled to be appointed as the new head of the RCN Prince of Wales Nursing cadet scheme which I took over in June.

I am passionate about giving young people the best start in life. This stems from my previous roles as a children and young people (CYP) nurse, health visitor and safeguarding lead nurse. I have also worked with students with varied backgrounds, needs and experiences as a nurse educator.

Our mission statement focusses on how this scheme will develop skills, enable and empower young people whatever their background to pursue healthcare careers, of course, I will be promoting careers within the nursing family, but to me this scheme it is far more than that. Being able to respect, communicate and listen to young people is essential if they are going to build life skills to become part of a caring profession.

Kindness and compassion is key and I look forward to being part of the scheme as we evolve and grow, inspiring future generations of the nursing family, or whatever career they choose, to enable a positive contribution to society, but more importantly with a positive ‘can do’ attitude for themselves.
