An invitation to get involved

Tracey McErlain-Burns 21 Mar 2024

Tracey McErlain-Burns, RCN Yorkshire and the Humber Board Chair, invites you to get involved with the RCN this Spring.

2024 is turning into a big year, one in which you can truly make a difference through engaging, being involved and active to secure a better future.

There is already plenty happening politically, with a general election and a mayoral election taking place in the region. This is an incredible opportunity to make sure that the issues and challenges that matter to you get on the political agendas. We need your help to do this. So please do consider getting active and engaged. And also help defend our fundamental freedom to strike when governments stop listening. Write to your MP to oppose measures that take away your freedoms and ability to be heard.

A warm welcome to all our new Branch Executives for 2024, who are ready to welcome you. I urge you all to go along to your local branch meetings. Get to know the team and be part of a great network where you can make yours and other members views heard and acted on. Check MyRCN to see which branch you belong to and make yourself known.

As always, the Yorkshire and the Humber Board are here to support you.
Welcome to Sue Merryweather who joined the Board at the end of 2023 and Rhian Wheater who joined this year.

Please do let us know when things go well but also how the RCN can work with you to improve your working life. The board meets three times a year and its meetings include an open session which all Yorkshire and the Humber region members are welcome to attend as an observer.
If you would like to contact a board member or attend a meeting of the open session then please email yorkshire.andhumberregion@rcn.org.uk.

Thank you so much for all you do for so many each day. What you do changes lives, shapes futures and I look forward to working with you all this year.
