The ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥, which is the Isle of Man’s largest nursing trade union, surveyed its members from Thursday 14 November to Thursday 28 November 2024.
56% of those who voted chose to reject the 4% offer from Manx Care which would see staff currently employed receive this uplift for the current year, with back pay to 1 April 2024.
David Hopton, the RCN’s Senior Officer for the Isle of Man, said: “Our members are clearly upset with the level of pay increase they’ve been offered. We’re hearing they’re not feeling valued for the job they do, and this result demonstrates this. Our members deserve to receive the level of pay that reflects their skill set and to ensure continued delivery of safe and effective patient care,”
The RCN has also previously written to Manx Care about the fact members who have left Manx Care since April will not receive the additional 4% backpay and this matter remains unresolved at this time.
David continued: “This pay offer should have been agreed before April, so these staff were paid at the agreed rate. It is something the RCN will continue to speak with Manx Care about, as we know some of our members are unhappy that their fellow colleagues should miss out, even in retrospect.”
The RCN has shared this result with Manx Care and the result will now be considered by the Isle of Man branch and North West Board. Next steps will be announced soon.
Manx Care nurses reject 4% pay offer

A majority of nurses employed by Manx Care have rejected the latest pay offer from the employer.
