Manchester Arena attack - one year on

22 May 2018

RCN North West Regional Director Estephanie Dunn has paid tribute to those affected by the Manchester Arena attack on the first anniversary.

Estephanie said: "Today sees the first anniversary of one of the darkest days for Manchester and the North West. Although the immediate shock of the Manchester Arena attack has faded, our staff, activists and members will always remember the horror of the events of that dreadful night. The victims, the injured, the bereaved and those who dealt with - and continue to deal with - the repercussions of the attack on our society will be never be forgotten.

"We have seen the worst and best of humanity. The stories that have emerged over the last year have given us hope, have shown that whilst hate tried to frighten and divide us, it will never succeed.

"Not only has the community spirit of Manchester been an example to the world, the immense bravery of our emergency services and the dedication of our NHS staff, several of whom are our members has shone through.

If you want support, contact your RCN workplace representative who can advise you, or call RCND on 0345 772 6100 between 8.30am and 8.30pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year."
