RCN Congress awards

13 May 2018

The South East region have celebrated a night of success at the opening night of RCN Congress 2018.

Celebrating the very best in nursing, the annual RCN Awards present Fellowships, Honorary Fellowships and Awards of Merit to those who have given an outstanding contribution to nursing, along with honours for the Learning Representative, Safety Representative and Steward of the Year.

Kenny McNeil from Jersey was awarded Steward of the Year, Hamira Ghafoor from Oxford was commended in the Learning Rep category whilst Sylvia Simmons from Eastleigh was given an Award of Merit and Ann Gallagher was given a Fellowship.

Patricia Marquis, South East Regional Director said: “What a night! I am so proud of all of our members, these four represent the best of the best. All of them work tirelessly for members in their own time. They often work ‘behind the scenes’ achieving significant wins for members without anyone really noticing. Tonight it was right that their successes were celebrated in this way, I would like to thank them.”

RCN Congress is where RCN members meet to learn, develop and share nursing practice. It is also where members inform the RCN agenda and influence nursing and health policy through debate. Congress 2018 is in Belfast 12-16 May 2018.
