RCN Guernsey nurses vote on pay

2017 and 2018 pay deal vote now open

9 May 2018

After months of negotiation, members of the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ on Guernsey are being asked to vote on their 2017 and 2018 pay offer.

All nurses employed by Health and Social Services will be eligible to vote up until the 3 June.

Julie Lewers, RCN Senior Officer says: “We know that members have been without a pay award for some time. It has taken months for us to be able to negotiate a package that we feel we can put to members. Whilst this offer isn’t perfect, it is a significant move in the right direction. Crucially, the States have also agreed to a complete review of the nursing pay system which is something that RCN members have been raising as vital to addressing the imbalance between the value of nursing roles in comparison to other public sector/civil service roles in the States.”

Members will be asked to accept or reject the following offer which covers last years and this year’s increases:

  • A lump sum payment (not consolidated into basic pay) for the pay period 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018. The lump sum payment will be equivalent to at least 2.5% of the top point of each band rounded up to the nearest £50. See below for amounts each band will get. This payment is subject to usual deductions.
  • 4.25% increase in basic pay from 1 April 2018 – 31 December 2018.
