Only hours that are relevant to your nursing, nursing associate or midwifery practice contribute towards meeting the practice hour requirement. Your practice hours relate to your specific scope of practice and are not limited to direct patient care.
For some roles, practice will include non-clinical work such as research, policy, education or management, which also meets revalidation requirements.
You should maintain a record of the practice hours you have completed in your portfolio, with information on the type and hours of practice and evidence of hours completed. The NMC has provided a for you to record this.

The NMC has provided further for dual registrants regarding the management and recording of the 900 practice hours.
