The ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ (RCN) in Wales is thrilled to see a remarkable 23% increase in acceptances onto nursing courses, with the number of students rising from 800 to 980.
Today’s release of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) Level 3 results, including A-level outcomes by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), marks a significant achievement for the nursing profession in Wales. This surge underscores the growing interest in nursing as a vital and rewarding career path.
RCN Wales is encouraged by this positive trend, which reflects the dedication of educators, health care professionals and policy makers in promoting nursing as an essential pillar of our health care system. As we continue to face challenges, such as workforce shortages and increased demand for health care services, the influx of new nursing students is a vital step towards ensuring a robust and sustainable health care system for the future.
Sandy Harding, Associate Director of Nursing (Professional Practice), RCN Wales, said: “We are proud of the students who have chosen to embark on this rewarding journey and commend their commitment to making a difference in our communities.
“RCN Wales will continue to advocate for the necessary support and resources to ensure these future nurses are equipped with the skills, knowledge and environment they need to thrive in their careers.
“This increase in nursing course acceptances is not just a win for the profession, but a positive development for the health and wellbeing of everyone in Wales. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier future for our nation.”
