Happy Nursing Support WorkersÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥™ Day 2023

23 Nov 2023

Ask any nurse and theyÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥™ll tell you they couldnÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥™t do their job without the support and contribution of their valued team of nursing support workers (NSWs).

Nursing Support Workers' Day logo That’s why today, 23 November, the RCN in Scotland is celebrating Nursing Support Workers’ Day, to acknowledge the vital part they play health and social care.

Julie Lamberth, Chair of RCN Scotland Board, said:

“Nursing support workers work hand in hand with registered nursing staff and without them we wouldn’t be able to provide the best nursing care that the people of Scotland deserve. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the nursing support workers who have supported me in my nursing career.”

With a growing membership of NSWs, the RCN is taking this opportunity to recognise the work NSWs do not only in NHS hospitals, GP health centres and community services, but across care homes, charities, and the wider social care sector. NSWs are a pivotal part of delivering high-quality person-centred care to the people of Scotland.

Colin Poolman, Director of RCN Scotland said:

“Today is the day where I encourage everyone to thank and show support for all nursing support workers across Scotland.  You are a crucial and valued part of the RCN membership and it’s important we take the time out to celebrate you and your essential contribution.”

People can join in the celebration today in a variety of ways to share their thanks for the NSWs they know and work with. Visit the RCN Nursing Support Workers’ Day website where you’ll find our graphics for sharing on your social media, posters for workplace notice boards and more.
