23 Nov 2023

We're highlighting the vital contribution nursing support workers make to patient care today.

This year we’re breaking down some of the preconceptions that may exist about nursing support workers. Take a look at our film which highlights why the role is essential within the nursing workforce.

This is the fourth year we’ve showcased the incredible work of nursing support workers and the difference they make to the lives of patients, families and carers.

Kevin Morley, Chair of the RCN UK Nursing Support Workers Committee, said: “The depth and breadth of work carried out by nursing support workers is often hidden and their value underestimated. Today is an opportunity to amplify their voices, raise awareness, say thank you and celebrate the work they do.”

For the first time, we’re hosting a UK-wide Nursing Support Workers’ Day conference at RCN headquarters in London. Nursing support workers will hear from guest speakers and attend creative sessions. Elsewhere people in workplaces and other RCN offices will hold their own celebrations. Please show your support on social media by sharing #nursingsupportworkersday.

Find out more about what’s going on today and how you can get involved in celebrating nursing support workers and showing your support.

RCN Nursing Support Workers’ Day is sponsored by Liverpool Victoria.
